Jersey Heights Pump Station Update

Morrisville Water & Light (MWL) is taking a critical step toward modernizing our town’s sewer infrastructure by replacing the outdated Jersey Heights Pump Station—originally built in the 1970s and well beyond its useful life. Village voters will vote on this bond item on April 14, 2025.

Please vote!

Key Project Highlights:

Essential Sewer Infrastructure Upgrade – This project is not related to the stormwater issues discussed last year but is instead a main sewer line pump station replacement to ensure long-term system reliability.

No Financial Impact on Residents – MWL will finance its share ($900,000) through a bond paid entirely by sewer allocation funds—fees collected from developers for sewer system access. Sewer ratepayers will not see an increase in their bills.

Efficient & Cost-Effective Approach – The project will reuse existing structures where possible, including the shaft and tank (after refurbishment), while installing new pumps, control systems, and electrical components. A new control building and driveway will also be added.

Major State Grant Secured – MWL successfully secured funding through Vermont’s Clean Water Priority List, covering:
🔹 50% of engineering costs
🔹 50% of construction costs (up to $900,000)

Project Timeline – The project is set to go to bid in Spring 2025, with construction beginning in Summer 2025 and completion expected in 2026. The sewer system will remain fully operational throughout construction.

This investment in Morrisville’s future ensures a modern, reliable sewer system while keeping costs off the shoulders of local residents. MWL will hold an information meeting about this bond vote and project on April 2 at 5:30 pm at the Morrisville Water & Light Office at 857 Elmore Street for those who would like to learn more.
